Sustainability

At Accomplishing Innovation Press, we recognize the need to protect the environment, and strive to incorporate sustainability throughout our organization.  Beyond that, we care about the environment, and have established our business model to reflect that.

We publish every single book we create in ebook (and sometimes audiobook) formats. For students and faculty, we have the ability to have all books be in ebook, pdf or ADA compliant PDF formats. By utilizing these options, gone are the need for resources such as paper, ink, or glue. Audio and ebooks eliminate the energy and water use associated with physical book production, and waste such as overproduction. And finally, these options do away with the use of fossil fuels from shipping raw goods to manufacturers, and shipping finished books to end consumers.

For those who prefer a physical book, we’ve got you covered. For traditional book lovers, we practice print-on-demand, which eliminates overproduction and waste by printing only when someone orders a book. Does print-on-demand mean there is a delay in receiving your book? Absolutely not; most retailers can print and ship them out instantaneously. This means for institutions you only order what you need and can re-order at any time.

In terms of our administrative operations, we are a cloud-based business, and we work remotely. That means no commute, which reduces our use of fossil fuels. It also means no offices, which eliminates the additional use of electricity and additional building footprint. According to *Energy.gov, 16 percent of all U.S. carbon dioxide emissions come from office buildings, so we are doing our part by removing ourselves from that equation.

By choosing these responsible operating procedures, we are doing our best to reduce our impact on the environment. We will continue to walk gently upon the earth, and look for innovative ways to increase our sustainable operations.

On a personal level, our CEO is composting at home, recycling responsibly, and plans to start keeping bees in the next year.
